Work in Progress tells the story of Milan through its construction sites, reflecting the city’s transformation in recent years. The elements characterising construction and road sites, selected to be reproduced in the patterns for the laminate surface, are: the brick tile, the cement block, the pipe, the pallet, the warning tape, the diversion road sign, the closed lane sign, the stop sign, the orange construction site netting. All these elements have been reinterpreted and translated into a two- and three-dimensional, modular graphic sign. Irony is the defining characteristic of the collection: the materials used on construction sites, which generate the places in which we live, “return” to the home in the form of laminate to remind us what our living spaces are made of.
