Sunny presents a paradox: its strength lies in its laminate covering. This allows the object, with its polystyrene core, to achieve the necessary solidity. The laminate follows the seat’s curves, ironically softening the monolithic power of the design. This contrast continues, as the rigid, monolithic appearance is contrasted with the idea of relaxing on a deckchair by the sea. Solidity, irony, simple volumes, primary geometries, stripes, colours, always a formal reference of the Memphis group, contribute to creating the Sunny chaise longue.
