Work in Progress

Abet 2024

More

Work in Progress tells the story of Milan through its construction sites, reflecting the city’s transformation in recent years. The elements characterising construction and road sites, selected to be reproduced in the patterns for the laminate surface, are: the brick tile, the cement block, the pipe, the pallet, the warning tape, the diversion road sign, the closed lane sign, the stop sign, the orange construction site netting. All these elements have been reinterpreted and translated into a two- and three-dimensional, modular graphic sign. Irony is the defining characteristic of the collection: the materials used on construction sites, which generate the places in which we live, “return” to the home in the form of laminate to remind us what our living spaces are made of.

Bis

Terra Gelato 2024

More

Bis is an ice cream spoon crafted from glazed ceramic. Its soft curves are designed to enhance the enjoyment of smooth, creamy ice cream. The handle’s characteristic shape prevents the spoon from touching the support surface. The true nature of the material is revealed on the back, where the exposed terracotta recalls the values of naturalness and craftsmanship that Terra has always pursued.

Serafino

Lispi 2024

More

Wrought iron combines with wicker in a bed with a warm, Mediterranean spirit. Serafino features an iron framework, complemented by a headboard entirely hand-woven in rattan, a classic material in good Italian design, which is here enhanced by contemporary forms in its fine complexity. The rational iron lines of the bed gracefully unite with the soft, light profiles of the rattan headboard, which in its shape generates two refined and functional surfaces.

Ercole

Lithea 2023

More

Ercole is a travertine-crafted system featuring a freestanding sink and various tiling options. It is inspired by the Doric style, the oldest of the Greek architectural orders. The sink, like a classical column, works on the sum of stone modules. The characteristic groove provides continuity and balance to the modules, which differ in size and density. The incisions on the marble, in three different densities, are characterised by clean lines that play with light and create a sense of lightness and, at the same time, disorder. A precise and controlled disorder that recalls the irregular travertine blocks that make up the Doric columns of the temples.

Tenuta Vannulo 2023

More

A unique chocolate bar made up of soft, rounded shapes, joined together like small domes, these semi-spherical volumes form the individual modules. The design celebrates the act of sharing and allows, when the bar is broken with the fingers, to obtain individual portions, regular in shape and uniform in weight. The domes can also be filled.

Volta

Lispi 2022

More

Volta reinterprets and reworks the classic dome shape, incorporating it into its design with a light and minimalist touch. The arches are generated by round iron tubes and softly envelop the bed, suggesting a sense of intimacy and protection. At the zenith of Volta, where the whole structure converges, a joint houses an unexpected light source: a functional position, both to better illuminate the bed and to facilitate reading in a relaxing atmosphere.

Sunny

Abet 2021

More

Sunny presents a paradox: its strength lies in its laminate covering. This allows the object, with its polystyrene core, to achieve the necessary solidity. The laminate follows the seat’s curves, ironically softening the monolithic power of the design. This contrast continues, as the rigid, monolithic appearance is contrasted with the idea of relaxing on a deckchair by the sea. Solidity, irony, simple volumes, primary geometries, stripes, colours, always a formal reference of the Memphis group, contribute to creating the Sunny chaise longue.

Tornatore

Spazio Paestum 2019

More

The flavours and aromas of cheese change from the rind to the centre. To properly cut and savour mozzarella in all its nuances, a thin, fine steel blade is essential, allowing it to slice through without tearing the cheese. The polymethyl methacrylate handles provides a comfortable grip and the characteristic zoomorphic shape means that the blade does not touch the surface on which it is resting.

Buri

A chair in solid ash with a seat entirely hand-woven in paper cord. While Buri is inspired by the typical Italian popular chair called ‘friulana’, a recurring furniture element in many Italian homes, restaurants, and trattorias, it gains autonomy from the archetype thanks to a more generous seat and sophisticated details that express high craftsmanship quality, such as the joint of the backrest crosspieces that harmoniously connect with the vertical elements of the chair.

Gioi is an outdoor table crafted entirely from terracotta, complementing the Cave seating collection. It comprises just two elements: the tabletop fits snugly onto the leg, its own weight ensuring perfect stability. The choice of a natural material such as clay worked to become terracotta together with a processing technique, that of the millennial manual production of jars, have inspired the search for an object that could live in symbiosis with nature and that could acquire charm as it ages.
